More than 59,000 applicants sat in the Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted by the Staff Selection Commission of Haryana (HSSC) on Saturday to fill group C jobs in Chandigarh and Panchkula. The mass analysis will be the starting point of a two-day activity that is expected to have close to 13.7 lakh candidates getting tested in Haryana and Chandigarh.

The HSSC CET, which is intended to fill vacancies of different Group C positions, will take place in two absences, that is, 10 am- 11.45 am, and 3 pm- 4.45 pm. The first day of examination was fluent in all 44 centres of the exam in Panchkula. Police were heavy-handed, and local orders were closely implemented, such as the closing of photocopy shops and coaching centres to prevent any form of malpractice during the exam. Some of the facilities which had two businesses were still open, but they obeyed the prohibition on photocopying services.

There were a lot of security checks, and the police kept a high level of vigilance in front of examination centres. The crowd was also controlled by positioning vehicles strategically to stabilise the situation in order to conduct the vehicle in an orderly manner. To move the examinees between the bus stand and the centres, the district administration had made facilities available through buses. Moreover, there were a lot of buses that belonged to the various schools, which took their position at the Sector-5 bus stand to help the candidates get to their destinations.

There were 21,488 registered candidates in Panchkula centres, of which 19,759 appeared in the exam on the first day. The exams went well and smoothly without any report of mischief or tumult, as Panchkula Deputy Commissioner Monika Gupta herself visited some centres during the two shifts according to the reports of the examinations being taken.

In Chandigarh, 153 exam centres were established to manage the massive number of aspirants at the meantime. Among the 75,000 candidates registered in the city, approximately 40,000 showed up to take the test first day. Tomorrow, it will be resumed, and the same settings, along with the security procedures, are planned.
