Delhi election 2025: Aam Aadmi Party’s national convenor Arvind Kejriwal wrote a letter to PM Modi to include Delhi’s Jaat community in the Centre’s OBC list ahead of Delhi election 2025. Kejriwal wrote that the Central government has been constantly cheating the Jat community for the last 10 years. Due to the Central government’s breach of promise, thousands of youth from Delhi’s OBC community are facing injustice.
“In the last 10 years, the BJP government at the center promised OBC reservation to the Jat community of Delhi four times, but did not fulfill it. The Jat community of Delhi should also be included in the OBC list of the Center. On this issue, I have written a letter to the Prime Minister and requested him to give the Jat community of Delhi their rights”, wrote former chief minister on social media account on X.
Arvind Kejriwal wrote in the letter, ‘I am writing this letter to remind you of your promise made 10 years ago on an important issue. I met many representatives of Delhi’s Jat community in the last few days. All of them expressed concern over the neglect of Delhi’s Jat community in the Centre’s OBC list. The representatives of the Jat community told me that on 26 March 2015, you had called the representatives of Delhi’s Jat community to your house and promised that the Jat community, which is in Delhi’s OBC list, will also be added to the Centre’s OBC list so that they can get the benefit of reservation in Central Government colleges and jobs in Delhi.’
Kejriwal further wrote, ‘Then on 8 February 2017, before the UP elections, Union Home Minister Amit Shah called a meeting of Jat leaders of Delhi and the country at Chaudhary Birendra Singh’s house and promised them that the OBC castes in the state list will be added to the central list. Before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Amit Shah again met Jat leaders at the residence of BJP MP Pravesh Verma in Delhi and he again promised that the Jat community of Delhi will be included in the central OBC list, but no work was done on this after the elections.’
