New Delhi: AAP Chief Arvind Kejriwal on Monday attacked the BJP and raised questions regarding the inclusion of the Jat community in the Central OBC list and issues related to new voter registrations in the New Delhi Assembly seat.
Addressing a press conference here today, Kejriwal accused the ruling party of attempting to undermine the integrity of the Delhi elections. AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal says, “I just want to know from the BJP, when will the Jat community from Delhi be given a place in the centre’s OBC list… Today at 3 pm, I, Atishi, Bhagwant Mann, and Raghav Chaddha will be going to the Election Commission. We have two issues- our Patparganj candidate Awadh Ojha, who is a voter from Greater Noida, had applied to be a voter of Delhi but has not received any information so far.
Aam Aadmi Party candidate Avadh Ojha, who is contesting from Patparganj, Delhi, his vote has not been sent from Greater Noida to Delhi, so his effort has failed. Aam Aadmi Party’s national convenor Arvind Kejriwal has talked about going to the elections again on this issue. He has alleged that Aam Aadmi Party candidate Avadh Ojha from Patparganj is only transferring votes.
He said that Awadh Ojha had filled Form 8 on 7 January, the last date for vote transfer in Delhi, but within 24 hours the Delhi CEO changed his order and said that the last date for filling the form is 6 January. Raising questions, he said that this was done deliberately to stop Awadh Ojha. Now the question is whether Awadh Ojha will be able to contest elections from Patparganj or not. He will meet the Chief Election Commission today at 3 pm regarding this matter. Arvind Kejriwal has raised questions about the CEO’s order. He has asked why the CEO issued it again? This is against the law.
Arvind Kejriwal explained the whole story. He said that Avadh Ojha’s vote was in Greater Noida, but he applied to vote in Delhi by filling Form 6 on 26 December, but did not get any response, so he came to know that Form 8 should have been filled, not Form 6. He had to fill Form 8 on 7 January, because according to the Election Commission’s manual, Forms 6, 7 and 8 could be filled up to 10 days before the last date of nomination. Accordingly, the CEO of Delhi had set January 7 as the last date for submitting the forms. However, within 24 hours the order was reversed and it was said that the last date for submitting the forms is January 7, not January 6.
