Delhi elections: Delhi election battleground seems ready for real. Candidates have been decided for 70 seats in the capital. The Election Commission of India (ECI) released the final list of candidates on Monday. After which how many candidates will contest on which seat has been finalized? Total 699 candidates for 70 seats
A total of 699 candidates will try their luck in Delhi. The maximum number of candidates is from New Delhi assembly seat. A total of 23 candidates are in the fray from here. This is the same seat from where former Delhi CM and AAP convenor Kejriwal is contesting. From this seat, BJP has given ticket to Pravesh Verma, son of former CM and former Union Minister in Atal Bihari ji’s government Sahib Singh Verma and Congress has given ticket to Sandeep Dixit, son of former Chief Minister Sheila Dixit.
The nomination process for the Delhi Assembly elections started on January 10, 2025. Nomination papers were filled till January 17. The nomination papers were scrutinized on January 18. After 1,521 nominations in the election, the papers of 981 candidates were found to be correct. After this, 719 contenders remained in scrutiny. By January 20, the candidates withdrew their names. On the same day, the Election Commission released the final list of candidates. According to the ECI, after the process of withdrawal of nominations, a total of 699 candidates will contest on all 70 assembly seats of Delhi.
Apart from the stalwarts of AAP, BJP and Congress, 10 other candidates are in the fray for Kalkaji assembly seat. Similarly, a total of nine candidates will try their luck for Jangpura assembly seat. On the other hand, seven candidates each are in the fray for Chandni Chowk, Trilokpuri, Delhi Cantt, Rajindra Nagar, Krishna Nagar, Narela, Bawana, Shakur Basti, Malviya Nagar, Palam and Deoli. Whereas, there are six candidates each for Greater Kailash, Tilak Nagar and Tri Nagar assembly seats.
