Firozabad. Police have arrested two international smugglers. They recovered over 5 kg of hashish, estimated to be worth ₹40 lakh. The smugglers are residents of Bihar and were smuggling hashish from Nepal to various districts in Uttar Pradesh. A case has been registered against the accused and police are taking further action.

Additional Superintendent of Police, City, Ravi Shankar Prasad, stated that the international smugglers were arrested in a joint operation by the ANTF’s Agra unit and the district’s Rasulpur police station. Following the instructions of senior officers, the two smugglers were arrested from Fatehabad Road Bari intersection as part of an ongoing campaign against drug smugglers. The arrested smugglers are Ajay Sahni and Suraj Kumar, residents of Motihari district in East Champaran, Bihar. Five kilograms (753 grams) of the narcotic substance hashish, worth ₹40 lakh in the market, was recovered from the arrested smugglers.

According to the Additional Superintendent of Police, the arrested smugglers revealed during interrogation that they sourced hashish from Sheshnath Master, a resident of Nepal, and sold it at high prices in various districts of Uttar Pradesh. They sold it at four to five times the Nepal rate, generating substantial profits. They were planning to deliver the consignment to someone when the police apprehended them.

The Additional Superintendent of Police stated that both arrested smugglers were produced in court under relevant sections and sent to jail. He added that the entire network is being investigated. Legal action will be taken against those whose names have come to light during the investigation.
