Sri Ganganagar: Last night, Assistant Station House Officer Sub-Inspector Rohitash Puniya, along with his team, apprehended two youths hiding in the alley behind the Sulabh Complex near the Panchayati Dharmshala gate of the railway station around 7:50 PM. Upon conducting a search, one youth was found with 30 grams of heroin, while the other had 15 grams. The arrested individuals, identified as Kishan alias Kichchu and Deepak alias Kaliya, residents of Kesarisinghpur, are now facing charges under the NDPS Act.

The investigation into this case has been handed over to Station House Officer CI Dhirendra Singh Shekhawat of Purani Abadi police station. According to police sources, these youths disembarked from a train arriving from Punjab yesterday evening. They were destined for Kesarisinghpur. After arriving at the Sri Ganganagar station, the youths stepped out of the station to have tea. It was during this time that the police became suspicious and subsequently interrogated them.

Further questioning revealed that these individuals were not just users but also involved in the trafficking and sale of heroin. The father of Kishan, Yusuf Ali, holds the position of Assistant Sub-Inspector in the police. The interrogation uncovered that the two youths had traveled to Firozpur city in Punjab to purchase 50 grams of heroin for Rs 1.20 lakh. On their way back, they consumed 5 grams of heroin. The remaining heroin was intended for sale to users in Kesarisinghpur.

The arrest sheds light on the cross-border narcotics trade and the efforts of law enforcement to curb drug trafficking. The police, under the NDPS Act, are intensifying their crackdown on individuals involved in the illegal drug trade, aiming to disrupt the supply chain and ensure the safety and well-being of the community.
