Soon after return from Germany, the 33-year-old now-suspended Karnataka MP Prajwal Revanna was arrested at Bengaluru Airport, and the special investigation team was questioned in the obscene video case. Sources in the SIT said the now-suspended MP arrived from Munich and was taken to the CID office for interrogation.
As per reports, a potency test on Prajwal is also contemplated by SIT. Advocate Arun G, the lawyer of suspended JD (S) leader Prajwal Revanna, said, “He (Prajwal Revanna) has come to Bengaluru to come before the SIT and give his cooperation for interrogation purposes. Yesterday, he was held at the immigration center, which is right as per the procedure. The reason why he has come is to cooperate with the investigation and that is what he has been doing. Additionally, he requested to media kindly not to do any media trial.”
As per media reports, the anticipatory bail application filed earlier by Revanna is presumed to be considered invalid due to his arrest by the Special Investigation Team (SIT). Further, it is also mentioned in the report that a request will be made to hand over the judicial custody of Prajwal to SIT, which will also result in imprisonment.
Allegations of sexual harassment and criminal intimidation over a complaint by a household woman worker, Revanna, are facing a probe by the SIT. On April 26, on Karnataka’s polling day, Revanna fled the country and has been hiding in an undisclosed place for 34 days. He returned to his country nearly after a month from Berlin, Germany, on a diplomatic passport and was immediately taken into custody.
Earlier, two prime accused connected in this case, Naveen Gowda and Chetan, were arrested by the SIT. As per police sources, Naveen Gowda and Chetan Gowda were arrested when they appeared before the High Court seeking anticipatory bail. It is alleged that both accused have distributed pen drives that contained videos of Prajwal Revanna sexually assaulting women.
On Friday, the bail plea of Prajwal and his mother, Bhavani Revanna, will be heard by the Special Court for Public Representatives. An anticipatory bail has been filed by Bhavani Revanna in the kidnapping case in which her husband, Revanna, was earlier arrested.
