Mumbai: Security guards and bystanders were hit by a black SUV driver in Mumbai who tried to run them down when ordered off the premises of a luxury apartment complex. Around 11 AM Tuesday, the incident took place at the gate of ‘The JP North complex on Mira Road. CCTV footage shows the SUV driver ramming into a scene of safety guards, reversing and then crashing into a nearby guard cabin.

The guards were infuriated to ask the driver, Kashish Gupta, to vacate that area. Later on, one of the guards filmed a video of Gupta, who declares, “They don’t know what I can do,” and threatened the guards to “fall in line.” Security in the residential area is a serious concern due to his aggressive behaviour.

Eyewitnesses said that Gupta rammed the SUV into the guards, then reversed it and drove it directly towards one of them who was outside the main gate. In fact, the vehicle passed him as he barely escaped injury. After the chaos, Gupta and two of his companions, who were present in the car, also fled the scene.

One of the accused was reacting to the incident, with Kashigaon police station senior police inspector Mahesh Togarwad saying, “We have dispatched teams to nab the accused. The pair have been charged and booked on Arms Act for attempted murder.” Police are investigating the motive of the attack and are tracing the route of the SUV after the escape.

However, the residents of the upscale complex have been quite concerned over the incident, and they’ve asked for stricter security measures. The community feels shaken by the attack, and there’s no doubt it needs to beef up its safety protocols in these high-profile residences. The police have appealed to the public to remain vigilant and act swiftly.
