Kanpur: In a tragic incident in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, a 17-year-old boy was allegedly murdered by the boyfriend of his teacher, Rachita, who was also arrested in connection with the crime. The accused, Prabhat Shukla, executed a disturbing plan to mislead investigators. To make it appear as a kidnapping, they sent a ransom note to the victim’s family, demanding Rs 30 lakh for their son’s safe return.
The victim, the son of a prominent cloth merchant in Kanpur, had left home in the evening on his scooter, heading to his coaching classes but never returned. A person with a masked face later arrived on a scooter at their home and delivered the ransom letter, with “Allah Hu Akbar” and “Allah par vishwas rakho” (have faith in Allah) written on it. This act was intended to divert the investigation.
However, careful scrutiny of CCTV footage revealed a different story. The police discovered that the boy had willingly accompanied Shukla to a storeroom, believing that his teacher had called him there. The footage showed both the boy and Shukla entering the room together. Tragically, the boy did not emerge from the room, while Shukla changed his clothes and left the scene on the victim’s scooter.
Rachita has reportedly admitted her involvement in the crime and disclosed that Prabhat Shukla, her boyfriend, had written the ransom letter. The motive behind this horrifying act appears to be related to a suspected illicit relationship between the victim and the teacher.
The incident has sparked outrage and concern, with former UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav of the Samajwadi Party (SP) demanding strict action against those involved. He expressed alarm over the attempt to link the crime to a specific community and manipulate the police investigation, describing such trends as extremely dangerous for society and the country. The investigation is ongoing as authorities seek to unravel the full extent of this tragic and disturbing case.
