A 36-year-old agent of Haryana tendering in a fake Poland visa racket was arrested by Delhi Police, officials confirmed on Thursday. The accused, residing in Kurukshetra, was a wanted accused in the case of visa fraud, which was registered in 2021. He had been absconding since Kulvinder, with whom he was arrested in the same case, had been caught.

Additional Commissioner of Police Usha Ragnani of Delhi Police said Gagandeep is a habitual offender who has been in two other visa fraud cases at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport.

The case became public on September 6, 2021, when two passengers were at IGI Airport, Chander Prakash and Sarabjeet, hailing from Punjab, were heading to Poland to board a flight. Officials detected that the Poland visas that they carried on their passports were counterfeit when they went through immigration clearance. Under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), sections 420 (cheating), 468 (forgery), 471 (using forged documents), and Section 12 of the Passports Act were registered against him at IGI Airport Police Station, a case followed.

The two passengers told the interrogation that they paid ₹3 lakh each to Kulvinder, who promised them a smooth journey to Portugal through Poland. It emerged that Kulvinder and his associates had obtained forged visas and travel documents for them. In September 2021, he was arrested, culminating in further inquiries which revealed Gagandeep to be a key player in the racket.

Gagandeep did manage to evade arrest many times till the police came across him in Amritsar, Punjab, and he was arrested there. When asked about his involvement in the scam, he admitted that he was involved in it and had been working as a visa agent for years and luring job seekers abroad with the false promise of employment abroad.
