Gwalior: In one of the most eerie instances that have taken place in the state of Madhya Pradesh in Gwalior, a woman has been sentenced to life imprisonment because she killed her five year old son who supposedly spotted her with her extramarital partner. The judgment was made almost two years down the line after the crime that had rocked the city.

The convicted woman Jyoti Rathore is a wife of a police constable Dhyan Singh Rathore. The prosecution said that Jyoti had an extramarital affair with her neighbour, Uday Indolia. Her young son allegedly caught her with her lover on April 28, 2023. In case the child betrayed the secret of her relationship with others, Jyoti supposedly resorts to the most extreme and tragic solution and threw the child off the roof of a two-storey building.

The child had fallen down critically and succumbed to death in 24 hours of treatment. After the incident Jyoti at first said that her son had fallen by mistake off the rooftop. Her husband however became skeptical of the events that happened in the incident and he set out to dig in to the findings independently.

Dhyan Singh supposedly collected key pieces of evidence such as CCTV footage of cameras placed in their home and audio and video recordings of conversations that Jyoti had with him where she confessed to being involved in the crime. On this material he had lodged a formal complaint with the police.

Jyoti allegedly told her husband about the murder of their son close to 15 days later under the influence of guilt. The police then filed a case and made an extensive investigation and the evidence that they gathered was all way to indicate that she played a significant part in the death of the child.

The court, after viewing the evidence and the testimonies, found Jyoti Rathore guilty and sentenced her to life imprisonment, which ended the case legally, but brought a tragic punctuation to a case that has shown a gruesome violation of trust and humanity.
