With a quantity of drugs worth ₹23.95 lakh, 45-year-old German national Sebastian Hesler was arrested by Goa Police in North Goa. Occurring after a late-night raid on his rented accommodation at Small Vagator village in North Goa, the arrest was made. In a confirmation, Superintendent of Police (ANC) Tikam Singh Verma said that the arrest was made and that some LSD blot paper, ketamine powder, ketamine liquid and two kilos of ganja were seized.
Hesler, who had been living in Goa since November 2024 on a tourist visa, was arrested after a month’s investigation by the Goa Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC). His capture was the result of intelligence gathered from human and technical surveillance over the course of a week that was ultimately operationalized during the operation that took place. Agni Sengupta, a resident of West Bengal, was arrested first for allegedly possessing a commercial quantity of both MDMA and cocaine worth ₹7.5 lakh, and the case was initially the subject of investigation.
Following leads gathered in the case, the ANC launched a broader investigation after Sengupta was arrested last month. His movements came to the attention of the German national Hesler’s surveillance, who wound up being one of the key suspects for illicit drug distribution in the area.
Late Monday night, law enforcement carried out the raid on his residence and found Hesler in possession of the drugs, which were carefully hidden. Goa’s ongoing fight against illegal narcotics has been swell as the state recorded another significant seizure of drugs. Authorities are still investigating and seem to think that this arrest could bring more revelations about drug trafficking networks in the region.
The seizure of such a huge amount of drugs makes a clear call of the growing problem of uncontrolled drugs in Goa, where tourists swarm in to attract them.
