New Delhi- In a twist of events, the Delhi Police apprehended a Navy employee who had been living under a false identity for almost twenty years after faking his death. Balesh Kumar, 60 years old, was taken into custody based on a tip-off related to a murder case from 2004 in the Delhis Bawana area. Adopting the name “Aman Singh, “Kumar had been working as a property dealer in Najafgarh, which was 30 kilometers away from his previous life.
From Haryana, Kumar had limited education and completed studies up to Class 8. He joined the Navy in 1981. Retired in 1996. Afterward, he ventured into the transportation business. Lived with his family in Delhis Uttam Nagar.
During the investigation, chilling details surfaced. Kumar admitted to being involved in the murder of Rajesh in 2004 at Samaypur Badli in Delhi. He disclosed that there was an argument between them while they were drinking, mainly triggered by an alleged affair between Kumar and Rajesh’s wife. The dispute escalated into an altercation where both intoxicated Kumar and his brother ended up choking Rajesh to death.
After the murder, Kumar came up with a plan to escape. He convinced Manoj and Mukesh, two laborers from Bihar in Samaypur Badli, that he would provide them with employment. Together, they set off on a journey to Rajasthan using Kumar’s brother’s truck. Unfortunately, in Jodhpur, Kumar allegedly set fire to the truck with the laborers inside. Left behind some documents that could incriminate him. When authorities arrived at the scene, they were able to identify one of the charred bodies as Kumars. Couldn’t determine the identity of the person.
During the proceedings for Rajesh’s murder, Sunder Lal (Kumar’s brother) was arrested while it was believed that Kumar had died in the truck fire incident. As a result of this presumed death, Kumar’s wife received his pension benefits and life insurance payout while the insurance money from the truck went to her well. For a time, his previous identity and crimes remained hidden until recently, when law enforcement finally caught up with him.
