New Delhi: Two incidents of shooting in the Welcome & Jyoti Nagar area in northeast Delhi at the intervening of Friday & Saturday killed one man and critically injured another man, as per a news agency report.
The first shooting was said to have happened late in the night, at around 1 a.m., in Welcome’s Kabir Nagar, where an unknown man attempted to shoot two men identified as Nadeem, also known as Bobby, and his friend Shahnawaz. Following the attack, however, the attacker picked a scooter belonging to the targets and rode away on it. Both victims were taken to another hospital, but Nadeem was pronounced dead on arrival. Shahnawaz was badly injured, and there are reports that he is now out of danger.
Shortly after, around 1:26 a.m., police got a PCR call from Jyoti Nagar, where, according to the victims, scooter-borne attackers fired at the house. Rahul, who was on the call, informed the police that the same gunman fired bullets at his residence, resulting in provocation in the compound. Thankfully, the second time, no casualties were recorded as a result of the fire outbreak. Officers arriving at the scene also found six spent shells and one live bullet round on the crime scene.
Police teams arrived at both scenes quickly; at the first shooting scene, they recovered three cartridge casings and an abandoned motorcycle. First, investigations showed that the motorcycle belonged to one of them, and the other fled with the stolen scooter.
After these incidences, the Delhi police lodged a murder complaint at Welcome PS no 291/15 under section 302 section 201 IPC and another FIR no 343/15 under section 307 CrPC for the shooting that occurred in Jyoti Nagar. Confirming the development, Deputy Commissioner of Police Northeast Rakesh Paweriya said the three suspects were held in Jyoti Nagar and were being quizzed.
The initial probes suggest that grievances over a rupee of ten thousand in financial issues between Nadeem and one of the accused could have led to the attack. Shahnawaz was also standing close to Nadeem at the time of the first blast, and he got hit on his leg by a bullet.
