Boudh: In a late-night incident on Thursday, masked dacoits invaded the residence of Manoranjan Sahu in the Baradol village under the jurisdiction of Manmunda Police in the Boudh district. The assailants, six in number and donning disguises, looted approximately 10 lakh rupees worth of gold jewelry and 85,000 rupees in cash. The incident resulted in a brutal assault on Manoranjan and his wife, Sabitri, while their daughter faced the menacing threat of a firearm to her head.

The invaders ransacked all the cupboards and trunks in the house, leaving behind a trail of destruction. Subsequently, they fled the scene with the stolen valuables and cash. The dacoits also attacked villagers attempting to intervene, creating a chaotic and dangerous situation.

The repercussions of the attack were severe, with Manoranjan, Sabitri, and a fellow villager, Neelkanth Pradhan, sustaining critical injuries. They were rushed to the government hospital in Manmunda for medical treatment.

In response to the incident, a primary report was filed at the Manmunda Police Station on Friday. The police have initiated an investigation into the matter, aiming to apprehend the criminals and bring them to justice.

This incident highlights the pressing need for increased security measures in the region to protect the lives and properties of the residents. The local authorities must collaborate with law enforcement agencies to ensure the safety of the community and prevent such heinous crimes in the future.
