New Delhi: BJP politician and advocate G Devaraje Gowda was taken into custody on Friday in relation to a sexual assault case that was submitted to Holenarasipur Town Police. He was detained close to the Gulihal toll gate in the district of Chitradurga after receiving a notification from the Hassan Police asking for his assistance with the inquiry.
As the head of the Bhartiya Janta Party, Gowda is a professional advocate. As a BJP candidate, he entered the 2023 assembly election but lost. Former minister H. D. Revanna and JD (S) MLA defeated him.
The leader of the BJP works as an advocate. He asserts that he had forewarned the BJP leadership about the mistreatment of multiple women sexually. The saffron party, however, has refuted any such allegations. Gowda claimed that he had sent a letter about the films, but the state president of the BJP refuted this claim.
Revanna is the BJP-JD (S) candidate from Hassan for the Lok Sabha election. He is the grandson of former prime minister and JD (S) politician HD Deve Gowda. For the current general elections, the BJP has partnered with the JD(S).
Gowda is facing allegations of sexual harassment in a formal complaint filed by a female. According to the lawsuit, she was physically assaulted and threatened by Gowda and others. Gowda is accused of a number of offenses under the Information Technology Act and the Indian Penal Code, including using force or violence against a lady with the purpose of violating her modesty, voyeurism, sexual harassment, breaking into someone’s home, insulting someone on purpose to cause a disturbance, and criminal intimidation.
Regarding an event that occurred on February 4 at the victim’s Holenarasipura apartment, the FIR was filed on April 1. The FIR also names three additional people in addition to Gowda.
