Patna: Bihar saw a massive crime crackdown as Police gunfight with three dreaded criminals, including one with a bounty of ₹2 lakh. It arrested them in the Naubatpur area in Patna Saturday night. During the exchange of fire, which police confirmed no one was injured, a police spokesman urged them to lay down their weapons. Bharat Kumar and his two associates were arrested, and amoung the arrested was Bharat Kumar, who had a criminal record of multiple murder cases.
The police reached the hideout where the criminals were taking shelter on a tip-off, and the Superintendent of Police R.S. Sarath stated this. When the trio spotted the police, they tried to run away and open fire; the police returned the fire swiftly and ended the trio, police reported. Three pistols were also recovered from the arrested persons. More is being investigated into their criminal activities and any possible networks.
Among them, Bharat Kumar was present without address and was behind bars for evading arrest for a number of months and was involved in umpteen heinous actions, especially murder. For this Bihar police, it is a major success.
Two other such dramatic actions by law enforcement in the state on the same day preceded this encounter. Police shot and killed a wanted criminal, Chunmun Jha alias Rakesh Jha, whose bounty, ₹3 lakh, was on his head and was also accused in many murder cases in the Narpatganj area of Araria district. During that meeting, four policemen were injured, and one of Jha’s associates was arrested.
Police also arrested two notorious criminals, Vishal Kumar alias Fudina and Sushil Kumar, in another incident in the Bidupur area of Vaishali district after a gunfight. They were both wanted in more than 30 cases involving serious crimes. The back-to-back actions reflect how the Bihar police are engaged in tackling organized crime and safeguarding public interest.
