Badlapur: Maharashtra’s Thane district witnessed massive protests on Tuesday over the alleged Badlapur sexual assault of two four-year-old girls by a cleaner of a local school. There was a public outcry on Tuesday to protest the sexual abuse of two children. Parents and citizens came down the streets and made a big protest. The movement started in the morning and continued till night due to which, the entire railway service was stopped.

Meanwhile, the police lathi-charged the protesters to disperse them, after which the situation calmed down in the night. Today, Wednesday, there is a tense silence in the city. The police have kept security at the place. Internet has been shut down and curfew has been imposed in the city. It is reported that local services are running smoothly since morning.

Protesters stormed railway stations and staged protests, disrupting local train services. Here are the top developments. Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced that senior lawyer Ujjwal Nikam will be the special public prosecutor in the Badlapur sexual assault case. Fadnavis also assured that the trial in case the case would be held at a Fast Track court.

Maharashtra CM Shinde posted a tweeted originally shared by Maharashtra DGIR, Chief Minister regarding Badlapur case, “he has also discussed with the Commissioner of Police. He warned that if such an incident occurs, action will be taken against the management of the institution. It was also directed to check whether Sakhi Savitri committees have been formed in schools or not”.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has ordered a high-level probe into the case and has said a Special Investigation Team(SIT) will be formed. “We are in the process to fast track this case, and no one will be spared if found guilty,”  Shinde was quoted.
