Mumbai: The main assailant, Shiv Kumar Gautam alias Shiva who shot dead former Maharashtra minister and NCP leader Baba Siddique last month, has confirmed that he had visited Lilavati Hospital. He said that he waited outside the hospital where the politician was taken- and was standing in the crowd outside to ascertain if Siddique had died or survived the attack, the police said.
The shooter, who quickly changed his shirt after the firing, told the police that he stood outside the hospital for 30 minutes among the crowd. He left as soon he came to know that Mr Siddique’s condition was very critical.
“During interrogation, Shiv told the police that soon after firing, he and his two accomplices fled the scene. Shiv was carrying an extra shirt in his bag. He changed into the shirt, and dumped the bag and the weapon below a parked car before returning to the crime scene. After visiting the crime scene he got into an autorickshaw and went to the hospital. He stood outside to check whether his “job” had been properly executed or not by listening to what the crowd was saying” the national daily quoted a police official as saying.
