Sehore: In Sehore district, the police have taken significant action by arresting the suspect five days after a chain-snatching incident involving a 65-year-old elderly woman. The arrest unfolded near Bairagarh Bypass. The accused, driven by the lure of expensive drugs, had targeted the elderly woman on Englishpura Road, one of the busiest streets in Sehore city, snatching a gold chain from her neck.
The incident occurred as the elderly woman was returning from a temple visit on November 16. The perpetrator swiftly grabbed the gold chain and fled the scene. The police, led by the Kotwali Thana in-charge Vikas Khinchi, conducted a thorough investigation into the case. Their efforts resulted in the apprehension of Aman Sharma, a 19-year-old resident of Sehore Ganj Mohalla, near Bairagarh Bypass five days after the incident.
Providing details, Vikas Khinchi stated that the elderly woman, after visiting a temple, was targeted by a perpetrator who snatched her gold chain. Subsequently, the police conducted an investigation and successfully arrested Aman Sharma. Along with the arrest, the police recovered a gold chain worth approximately one lakh rupees from the possession of the accused.
During the interrogation, the suspect revealed that he committed the chain-snatching crime to fulfill his addiction to expensive drugs. The incident not only underscores the vulnerability of elderly citizens but also highlights the societal challenges arising from substance abuse. The police’s prompt action in solving the case and apprehending the accused sends a strong message against such criminal activities in the region.
