Delhi Police have made a major achievement in reducing vehicle thefts in the capital by arresting 12 notorious thieves and finding 24 stolen vehicles in a series of carefully organised operations in Dwarka. Law enforcement says that the operations were part of a broader plan to crack down on the increasing problem of motor vehicle theft in the area.

According to Deputy Commissioner Ankit Singh, the team involved the Anti Auto Theft Squad and local police stations in Dabri, Mohan Garden, Uttam Nagar and Sector-23 Dwarka to complete the operations. The goal was to keep tabs on repeat offenders and bring back property that was stolen.

Ketan Singh and Rudra, who live in Uttam Nagar, were arrested with the aid of CCTV recordings at the Dabri police station. The police have a listing for Ketan as a bad character, as he has been in trouble for nine vehicle thefts. As a result of their questioning, police recovered six motorcycles, and two were stolen from Sitapuri and Anand Vihar.

Separately, Mohan Garden police arrested three suspects: Amit and Chandan (both criminals) and Aman. All five men were found to have been using one scooter and four motorcycles. All three have pasts in breaking into homes, stealing belongings and taking items from others.

In addition, the squad achieved notable results in two cases. In another case, Robert, who has 34 previous convictions, mainly for robbery and violations of the Arms Act and his associate Ravi, with 10 cases, mainly for murder, were taken into custody. Two cars and four motorcycles were seized by the authorities.

A father-son pair, Raman and Sagar, were caught after stealing a car in Rohini Sector-5. They apparently sold a number of stolen cars in Meerut.

In a separate incident, late-night officers spotted a suspicious biker near Nawada-Hastsal Road in Uttam Nagar.
