Zomato founder Deepinder Goyal has resigned as Group CEO of the company. Eternal (Zomato’s parent company) has announced this as part of a major leadership change. Deepinder Goyal has stepped down following shareholder approval, and Albinder Dhindsa has been appointed as the new Group CEO of Eternal with immediate effect.
The company also released its results for the third quarter of the current fiscal year. In a filing with the exchange, Eternal disclosed the Q3 results and the reason for Deepinder Goyal’s resignation as Group CEO. Deepinder Goyal shared the important update on leadership changes at Eternal through his official account on X.
Goyal stated that Dhindsa will now take over operational decisions. “As Group CEO, he will be responsible for day-to-day operations, operating priorities, and business decisions,” he said. He added that he had led Blinkit’s journey from acquisition to breakeven. He is “fully capable” of leading Eternal as Group CEO.
As part of this transition, all of Goyal’s unvested stock options will be returned to the employee stock option (Esop) pool. Goyal founded Zomato in 2008 with Pankaj Chaddah. It was initially called Foodiebay, a platform providing restaurant menus and reviews. It later grew into the food delivery giant it is today. Over the past year, Goyal has ventured outside of Eternal into several of his own deeptech, longevity, and personal research ventures.
