Today’s stock market crash: On Monday, February 10, 2025, at noon, the stock market fell, driven down by metal, real estate, and healthcare companies.

The benchmark BSE Sensex fell 674.97 points, or 0.87%, to 77,185.22 at 12:10 p.m. IST. The broader NSE Nifty fell 210.10 points, or 0.89%, to close at 23,349.85.

Which stocks fell the most?

Zomato Ltd. fell the highest among the 30 Sensex stocks, dropping 3.61% to ₹225.40. Next in line were Tata Steel Ltd., which dropped 3.47% to trade at ₹133.50, and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd., which dropped 3.49% to trade at ₹268.60.

Among the stocks that began the day at the lowest were Tata Steel and Power Grid Corporation. Out of the 30 Sensex stocks, just 4 were up. Among them were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (up 0.14%, trading at ₹4,035), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (up 0.22%, trading at ₹2368.80), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (up 0.28%, dealing at ₹1,682.55), and Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (up 0.56%, trading at ₹1,947). The five Sensex equities that began higher today included Bharti Airtel and Hindustan Unilever.

How did the stock market open?

Metal and healthcare stocks pushed the stock market down as it opened, sending it into the negative. The benchmark BSE Sensex fell 302.65 points, or 0.39%, to 77,557.54 at 9:20 am IST. At 23,461.15, the wider NSE Nifty began the day 98.80 points down, or 0.42% lower.

Tata Steel Ltd. saw the largest decline of 2.68% among the 30 Sensex equities, closing at ₹134.60. Next in line were NTPC Ltd., which dropped 1.17% to trade at ₹313.15, and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd., which dropped 1.99% to trade at ₹272.75.
