Starlink, the satellite internet division of tech business tycoon Elon Musk’s SpaceX, has formally entered the massive Indian market by announcing prices for its home services. This comes after months of regulatory groundwork and technical preparations.
Starlink is offering a 30-day trial. During this trial period, users will receive unlimited data. This means you can use the internet without any restrictions for one month. You can check if Starlink is available in your area by visiting the website and entering your pin code.
Company Claim: 99.9% uptime
Starlink’s biggest claim is that it virtually eliminates the problem of internet server downtime. The company claims that the internet will operate with 99.9% uptime and that interruptions are extremely unlikely.
This positions Starlink significantly above the established fiber-optic broadband services in metro areas. There will be a 30-day free trial period, though. Prices for a planned commercial package were not out yet.
The uniqueness of Starlink is that the system doesn’t rely on ground-based towers, but instead connects directly to satellites in space. This allows it to operate in places where stable internet access hasn’t been available to date.
