MUMBAI: The Indian Rupee on Tuesday appreciated by 17 paise against the retreating Greenback currency.

According to reports that stated the charts at the interbank forex exchange on Tuesday, the local unit opened at 81.18 and touched an intra-day high of 81.04 and a low of 81.45 against the weakening Dollar. It finally settled at Rs 81.11.

In the trade after the weekend, the rupee depreciated by 50 paise closing at 81.28 against the US currency.

Meanwhile, the dollar index, which gauges the greenback’s strength against a basket of six currencies, slipped 0.38 percent to 106.25. Global oil benchmark Brent crude futures fell 1.47 percent to $ 91.77 per barrel.
