Mumbai: The depriciated by 44 paise on Friday breaching 81 per dollar for the first time before recovering to under that level as the Reserve Bank of India intervened but still ended the day at its weakest level as the US Treasury yields climbed to fresh multi-year highs.

The 10-year U.S. Treasury yield overnight climbed above 3.70% and the two-year yield reached a high of 4.16%

At the interbank forex exchange, the domestic unit provisionally closed at a new all-time low of 81.04 against greenback currency.

Meanwhile, Gold price in the national capital fell by Rs 139 to Rs 50,326 per 10 grams on Friday amid a fall in international precious metal prices.

In the previous trade, the yellow metal had finished at Rs 50,465 per 10 grams. Silver also fell sharply by Rs 363 to Rs 58,366 per kilogram from Rs 58,729 per kg in the previous trade.
