MUMBAI: The Rupee after consecutively declining for two days retreated slightly against the US Dollar today. However, the higher crude prices capped the domestic currency’s gains.
At the interbank foreign exchange market, the domestic currency gained 8 paise to provisionally close at 82.76 against the US dollar.
A larger-than-anticipated reduction in US crude stockpiles rose the crude oil prices. The Bank of Japan’s unexpected hawkish tilt on Tuesday, when it chose to increase the upper limit of its trading bonds on 10-year notes, has also temporarily subsided.
Meanwhile, Gold was trading flat in the afternoon trade on Thursday. On MCX, as of 1:30 pm, December Gold futures quoted at Rs 54,995 per 10 grams, flat by Rs 76 or 0.14 per cent.
