MUMBAI: The Indian Rupee on the opening day of the week, depriciated by 42 paise closing at Rs 82.50 against the US Dollar. In the previous session on Friday, the rupee settled at 82.08 against the US dollar.
At the interbank foreign exchange, the domestic unit opened weak at 82.35 against the dollar, then fell to 82.50, registering a decline of 42 paise over its last close.
Meanwhile, the dollar index, which gauges the greenback’s strength against a basket of six currencies, rose 0.17 per cent to 103.09. Brent crude futures, the global oil benchmark, advanced 0.25 per cent to USD 80.14 per barrel.
Gold in the national capital plunged by Rs 574 to Rs 57,155 per 10gram amid weak global trends. On the contrary silver plummeted to Rs 2,113 per 10 grams.
