MUMBAI: The Indian Rupee on Thursday strengthened against the greenback currency closing at 82 per Dollar tracking a muted trend in domestic equities.
At the interbank foreign exchange market, the rupee opened at 81.93 against the greenback and closed at 82.02 (provisional), registering a fall of 7 paise over its previous close of 81.95.
The rupee finished at 81.9750 per dollar, against its previous close of 82.055. During the session, the domestic unit witnessed an intra-day high of 81.77 and a low of 82.02 against the American dollar.
Meanwhile, the dollar index, which gauges the greenback’s strength against a basket of six currencies, was trading 0.22 percent lower at 105.42. Global oil benchmark Brent crude futures declined 0.01 percent to USD 82.65 per barrel.
Gold and Silver plunged by Rs 80 to Rs 55,025 per 10 grams and Rs 390 to Rs 61,955 per kilogram respectively.
