New Delhi: The Banking Laws (Amendment) Bill, which aims to amend the Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934, the Banking Regulation Act, 1949, the State Bank of India Act, 1955, the Banking Companies (Acquisition and Transfer of Undertakings) Act, 1970, and the Banking Companies (Acquisition and Transfer of Undertakings) Act, 1980, was introduced in the Lok Sabha today by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
The Carriage of Goods by Sea Bill and the Bills of Lading Bill were introduced by Union Ports, Shipping, and Waterways Minister Sarbananda Sonowal.
In relation to the transportation of goods by sea and any related or associated matters, the first bill aims to define the obligations, liabilities, rights, and immunities imposed on carriers. The Bill of Lading aims to facilitate the “transfer of rights of suit and all liabilities to the consignee named in a bill of lading and every endorsee of a bill of lading, to whom the property in the goods mentioned in the bill of lading shall pass, upon or by reason of a consignment or an endorsement, and for matters connected therewith or related thereto.”.
The revised business schedule states that Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw will present a bill in the Lower House that would further amend the Railways Act, 1989.
The day’s Lok Sabha session will begin with obituaries referring to the deaths of Sqn. Ldr. Kamal Chaudhry (Member, Eighth, Ninth, Tenth, and Twelfth Lok Sabhas); Ramesh Rathod (Member, Fifteenth Lok Sabha); and Iqbal Ahmed Saradgi (Member, Thirteenth and Fourteenth Lok Sabhas).
The Union Minister of Information Technology, Mr. Vaishnaw, will address the Rajya Sabha on the status of implementing the recommendations in the 48th Report of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Communications and Information Technology, which is titled “Citizen’s Data Security and Privacy.”
