After the remarkable year 2025 wherein precious metals like gold and silver have recorded substantial gains, gold is projected to continue its upward trajectory as major banks forecast prices between $4500 and $ 4700 per ounce.

Many central banks in the world and especially those in the emerging markets, are expected to accumulate gold as a hedge against dollar volatility and geopolitical risk. Furthermore, if the global economic fears continue to haunt or interest rates begin to fall, it is quite possible that gold could benefit.

On the other hand, silver is widely expected to outperform gold this year. This surge is attributed to the dual role performed by silver. Besides being a precious metal, it is also a critical industrial metal that faces supply deficits. Since the industrial demand for alternative forms of energy like solar panels, EVs continues to rise, the demand for silver is expected to rise. However, despite being an important metal, silver continues to remain undervalued.

Gold price in Delhi: The price of 24-carat gold in Delhi is ₹1,35,030 per 10 grams. 22-carat gold is selling at ₹1,23,790 per 10 grams.

Prices in Pune and Bengaluru: In Pune and Bengaluru, the price of 24-carat gold is ₹1,34,880 per 10 grams. 22-carat gold is available at ₹1,23,640 per 10 grams.

Gold prices have seen a 73.45 percent increase in 2025. Further gains are expected in 2026.

Silver prices also declined on the morning of January 1st. Silver prices fell to ₹238,900 per kilogram. The spot price of silver in the international market reached $71.67 per ounce.

Silver has outperformed gold on a year-to-date basis, gaining nearly 164 percent. This is attributed to strong industrial demand, increased safe-haven buying, and a continued shortage of global supply.
