The new revelation in the bombing of Delhi Red Fort has given a new face to the movements and actions of the key suspect, Dr. Mohammad Umar un-Nabi. As investigators claim, Umar lived in the Nuh district of Haryana until only a day before the fatal bombing incident, and was often changing between several different mobile phones in order not to be easily spotted. The explosion, which was caused by an i20 Hyundai vehicle that was loaded with explosives, resulted in the death of 12 individuals, and the injuries of others in the immediate vicinity of Red Fort.
Investigators now assume that Umar un-Nabi, who was supposedly associated with what police termed a white-collar terror outfit, escaped the Al-Falah Medical College in Faridabad after police caught his close associate, Dr. Muzammil Shakeel Ganaie. Prem-blast footage of CCTV cameras depicting Umar at a pollution-check station with the same i20 car and at a mobile repair shop, indicates his effort not to be downed, but to avoid the police.
The case documents provided to Hindustan Times indicated that Umar escaped to Nuh on October 30 using the help of Shobah Khan, a nursing personnel of the Al-Falah University. Khan assisted Umar to find temporary housing in the house of his sister in law, Afsana who offered him one of her four rooms at 6000 rupees- 2000 as rent and 4000 as security deposit.
Additional CCTV footage reveals that Umar had at least two cell phones when visiting a shop in Faridabad about 11 days prior to the explosion. Nevertheless, a forensic examination of the burnt i20 did not indicate any cell phone and police assumed that he had disposed the phones prior to the explosion as a measure to clear the phones of any digital evidence.
Security closure and reopening of metro gates.
In the meantime, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has resumed two entry gates (one is the 2 nd and the other is the 3rd ) on the Lal Quila (Red Fort) Metro station. The gates were closed since Monday evening due to the security reasons following the blast.
