On the last day of the G7 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (FMM) in the Niagara region of Canada, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar engaged in two major multilateral meetings during which he asserted India’s unwavering commitment to strengthening partnerships and addressing new challenges in energy and maritime security.

During the Outreach Session on Energy Security and Critical Minerals, Jaishankar pointed out that the world is still witnessing volatile and supply chain-based challenges across markets. He called for greater consultation, coordination and collaboration among countries to promote energy security and equitable access to other critical minerals. “The key, however, is to translate that cooperation into action on the ground. India remains open to working closely with international partners,” he added.

During the session on Maritime Security and Prosperity, Jaishankar reiterated the need for trustworthy and diversified maritime networks. He also noted India’s efforts to modernize shipping assets and supply chains in order to secure global supply chains. He called for greater coordination as a global community to collectively ensure the protection of critical maritime and undersea infrastructure.

Jaishankar wrapped up his meetings Wednesday afternoon before departing for India in a visit that consolidated and built on their multilateral engagement.
