Bhopal. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed its first supplementary chargesheet in the Bhopal terror conspiracy case linked to the banned terrorist organization Hizb-ut-Tahrir (HuT). A new accused, Mohsin Khan alias Dawood, has been charged with various sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and the Indian Penal Code (IPC), while additional charges have been added against five other previously chargesheeted accused.

The NIA presented this supplementary chargesheet in the special NIA court in Bhopal on Thursday. So far, a total of 18 accused have been chargesheeted in this case. The original chargesheet was filed on November 4, 2023, against 17 accused.

  • Misbah-ul-Hasan
  • Yasir Khan
  • Syed Danish Ali
  • Mohammad Shahrukh

All of them are accused of participating in terrorist acts, including burning a police officer’s car, at the behest of a foreign handler. The arrested accused are also accused of inciting Muslim youth to convert under the guise of religious gatherings, spreading anti-democratic ideology, and plotting to overthrow the central government and establish a Sharia-based caliphate.

According to the NIA, the accused were organizing secret meetings to radicalize Muslim youth. The investigation revealed that HuT members were working on a strategy to recruit Muslim youth in Madhya Pradesh and other parts of the country to overthrow the democratic government and implement Sharia law. The case was originally registered by the Bhopal ATS in May 2023. The NIA later took over the investigation.
