The events in the Khandwa district of Madhya Pradesh have brought to light a horrifying incident, after the room of a madrasa imam was found to have almost 19 lakh of fake money. After the revelation, BJP MLA Kanchan Tanve went to the office of the Superintendent of Police (SP) to inquire on the case. She also encountered Additional SP Mahendra Tarnekar and raised concerns on the issue.
According to MLA Tanve, she came to the police office to report the case as soon as she learned about the seizure of fake currency. She insisted that all mosques and madrasas in the area be properly investigated claiming such affairs could be one of many conspiracy to undermine the economy of the country. Counterfeit notes are not a metropolitan problem–they seem to be a bid to emaciate the nation at the heart of things.
Tanve added she would directly take the matter to the chief minister Dr. Mohan Yadav to take a stern action against the concerned persons. On Sunday, police sources reported that Khandwa police found fake notes worth 19 lakh in the room of Imam Zuber Ansari in the mosque situated in the Pethiya village within the limits of the Jawar police station.
It is noteworthy that Ansari had just been caught by Malegaon police in Maharashtra with 10 lakh of counterfeit money. The Khandwa police have now closed the room out of which the counterfeit notes were taken, and are now looking into the net-work behind the issues of the counterfeit money.
Law enforcers are investigating to identify potential connections of the cases in Madhya Pradesh with those in Maharashtra to find out whether there is a bigger inter-state counterfeit currency network in the business. The demand of the BJP leader to investigate the issue on a large scale has created a political controversy that echoes on the insecurity within the country and financial sabotage.
