Khajuraho: Municipal Council CMO Basant Chaturvedi issued a notice to the airport director and special executive officer for attachment of the movable property in Khajuraho, Madhya Pradesh for paymnt of property tax dues of Rs. 45 lakhs for 20 years. On October 6, the airport director had issued a notice to deposit the outstanding property tax amount within 15 days, but even after 15 days have passed, the outstanding amount has not been deposited yet. In such a situation, Khajuraho CMO Basant Chaturvedi has sent a letter to the SDM and the police station in-charge and has asked for force to take action for attachment.
Despite the Municipal Council sending 20 reminders to the Airport Authority to pay the outstanding tax, the property tax remained unpaid. Consequently, the CMO has taken a firm stance and initiated the seizure process.
Can Airports Be Sealed for Non-Payment of Dues
In 2013, some furniture at the administrative building of Tamil Nadu Airport here were today seized by officials of a cantonment board as part of proceedings to recover Rs 23 crore property tax dues owed by Airports Authority of India to the local body.
The proceedings were taken up as AAI did not pay the property tax for its staff quarters, vacant plot and some signal towers located in areas coming under the St Thomas Mount-cum-Pallavaram Cantonment Board since 2010, board sources said.
