Delhi Police apprehended a fugitive linked to infamous gangs – Anil Chippi and Kala Jatheri – after a brief exchange of gunfire in Dwarka on Tuesday. The suspect, a resident of Rohtak in Haryana, was identified as Vikas alias Bagga and was wanted for multiple cases including murder, attempted murder, and robbery.

Police received an anonymous tip that the wanted suspect would arrive near the Mangespur Drain Patri site on Dichaun-Hirankudana Road to meet his associate. The police team laid a trap for the suspect, and he retreated to an unprepared position. Reportedly, upon facing the police, the suspect opened fire on the officers. The head constable was hit in his bulletproof vest, but survived unscathed. The police fired back in two rounds; however, only one bullet successfully struck Vikas in his right leg. Vikas was quickly subdued and transported to a hospital for treatment.

Upon initial investigation, it was discovered that Vikas was a suspect in a murder case registered at the Sampla police station in Rohtak and a suspect in another attempted murder case in Haryana. Vikas has even been accused as a suspect in a robbery-cum-murder case in the Rohini district of Delhi, further illuminating the depth of his connections to organized crime in the area.
