A large fire erupted Thursday at JMS Business Centre in Mumbai Jogeshwari West, causing alarm among people within the building. Firefighters and emergency responders arrived soon after the alert was received and several fire engines were sent to the blaze.
Videos from the area showed individuals trapped on the top floors of the commercial building so the Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB) instigated a rescue operation. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has classified the fire a Level-II, meaning there has been a significant response from multiple teams and apparatus.
Authorities stated that no injuries have been reported, and rescue operations are ongoing, with fire officials focused on safely evacuating everyone while getting a handle on the fire and containment of the incident to prevent its spread. Traffic has been temporarily diverted in the area while emergency teams respond to the incident. Residents and workers in the area have also been advised to keep away from the structure.
