Kantara Chapter 1, the Kannada period action drama has now scaled another peak, surpassing the lifetime collections of SS Rajamouli’s all-time blockbuster, Baahubali: The Beginning. With this, the film has also moved closer to the ₹700-crore mark worldwide, despite a marked dip in its earnings on its second Monday.

Having completed a successful first week, the Rishab Shetty-starrer crossed the ₹400 crore gross worldwide mark, surpassing the KGF: Chapter 1 worldwide collection of approximately ₹238 crore and moving well ahead of Baahubali: The Beginning‘s estimated global haul of around ₹515.77 crore. Trade analysts have projected the film’s total worldwide gross to settle somewhere in the range of ₹650-700 crore, placing it among the highest-grossing Indian films of all time, despite a natural drop in its weekday earnings, including its second Monday.

Kantara Chapter 1: Box Office Report

On Monday, the film’s makers, Hombale Films, claimed that the film earned ₹146 crore gross in its second weekend, taking its worldwide collection to ₹655 crore after 11 days. That would make its 12-day worldwide gross somewhere around ₹675 crore. Trade calculations, however, put this number closer to ₹650 crore, potentially even below it.

The film’s extraordinary success is driven by its strong performance across multiple language markets in India, including the original Kannada version and its dubbed versions in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam. The prequel to the 2022 sleeper hit Kantara explores the mythological origins of the divine spirit and the land’s lore, resonating deeply with audiences and showcasing the growing power of regional cinema on the national and global stage.
