Amritsar. In view of the national security situation, the district administration has imposed several restrictions in Amritsar. Additional District Magistrate Rohit Gupta has imposed strict restrictions in the district under Section 163 of the Indian National Security Act (BNS) 2023.
According to the order, there will be a complete ban on gatherings of five or more people, protest rallies, sit-ins, demonstrations, and sloganeering in the Amritsar (rural) area. The administration stated that some political organizations are attempting to incite public sentiment, which could lead to a law and order situation and damage to public property.
This order will remain in effect until January 6, 2026, and compliance is mandatory for all. Carrying weapons in marriage palaces and religious sites in rural areas, firing in the air, or displaying weapons on social media is now strictly prohibited. The administration states that such acts could disrupt law and order, making this step necessary.
Restrictions imposed in the border area (Amritsar Rally and Firing Ban)
All activities will be restricted within 500 meters of the India-Pakistan border in Amritsar from 8:30 PM to 5:00 AM. This measure is designed to maintain border security and national peace, preventing the movement of unwanted elements.
Additionally, there will be a complete ban on the use of flammable materials and any unauthorized construction within a 1,000-square-yard radius of the Beas Asla-Bhandar. This order has been issued to prevent potential untoward incidents and protect human life and government property.
There is a complete ban on breaking railings or dividers on city roads and bridges. People often break dividers to create temporary pathways, increasing the risk of accidents. Strict action will now be taken against such actions.
The administration has clarified that no vehicle or auto-rickshaw driver will transport more children to school than the capacity. School principals and headmasters have been instructed to make parents aware of this rule to prevent the possibility of accidents.
