Search and rescue operations continue in Himachal Pradesh after a private bus was caught in a landslide, killing at least 15 people and injuring two children in the Balughat area of the Jhanduta sub-division in the Bilaspur district on Tuesday night.

“Relief and rescue operations continued late into the night following the horrific accident near Balughat (Bhallu Bridge) in the Jhanduta Assembly constituency of Bilaspur district. The bodies of 15 people have been recovered so far, continuing until 2:30 a.m. Rescue operations resumed in the morning. I am in touch with the local administration and receiving minute-to-minute updates on the entire rescue operation. May God grant peace to the departed souls and provide strength to the grieving families. I stand with all the affected families during this difficult time”, wrote CM Sukhvinder SIngh Sukhu on X.

Three children were rescued alive and were being treated at a hospital in Barthin village, officials said. Intermittent rains have been lashing the region since October 6, 2025.

District administration teams rushed to the site to carry out rescue operations. Authorities were directed to deploy all available machinery for relief efforts.

Mr. Sukhu, who is monitoring the situation from the State capital, Shimla, directed the local administration to expedite relief and rescue operations. He instructed that the injured be taken to hospitals without delay and assured that complete arrangements would be made for their treatment and care.
