Raipur. In Chhattisgarh’s infamous Rs 3,200 crore liquor scam, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned excise officials involved in the scam. Following this summons, discussions have once again begun regarding preparations for major action. For the past three days, excise officials have been visiting the ED office to record their statements. This includes all those who were recently granted bail by the Supreme Court.
The Supreme Court has granted the ED and the EOW/ACB three months and two months respectively to file the main charge sheet in the liquor scam. The ED is summoning and questioning approximately 30 excise officers. One officer, Ashish Srivastava, is reportedly being added later.
It should be noted that after the EOW/ACB filed a charge sheet in court regarding the liquor scam, the state government suspended 22 excise officers. Seven of these officers have since retired. Currently, all 22 officers are suspended and have been accused of accepting over ₹88 crore in commissions. These excise officers have been granted bail by the Supreme Court.
