On Sunday, a Delhi court reprimanded self-proclaimed spiritual leader Chaitanyananda Saraswati and ordered him to spend five days in police custody as an investigation into the charges of sexual assault against him deepened. This is developed when there is an emergence of sleazy WhatsApp messages purportedly sent by Saraswati to female students in a management institute in Delhi.

In a supposed message, the godman referred to one of the women as his beloved baby doll daughter, according to screenshots of the messages given by individuals knowledgeable of the investigation: “Good evening, my best loved baby daughter doll.” In a different encounter, he is said to have asked a woman whether she would sleep with him, though she had pointed out that she was going to bed. In another chat, Saraswati replied to a woman who had asked him what he was doing by saying disco dance. According to investigators, he also wanted a girl to provide information on a possible sex partner of a sheikh in Dubai. It is felt by the authorities that such messages may shed some light on his conduct to the complainants.

This is revealed hours after the police took Saraswati and his female aides to his institution, where an investigation was conducted on the grounds. This is part of a broader investigation into sexual harassment and molestation allegations. Police previously reported that Saraswati was uncooperative and tried to deceive interrogators on several occasions.

Researchers have discovered that Saraswati was secretly taking pictures of women and employees, was involved in obscene conversations, and used a CCTV surveillance application to stalk students. His three female assistants, who were supposedly his sisters, were allegedly threatening to victims and bullying them into deleting the improper messages. The digital messages and witness accounts are being directed against Saraswati, who was arrested in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, after several days evading the police.

Authorities are still investigating his activities, whereby further investigations will help to unearth the magnitude of the misconduct and other possible victims.
