Police investigations into the case of self-proclaimed godman Chaitanyanand Saraswati, who was arrested days ago over accused sexual harassment of 17 students in a private institute have revealed other incriminating content in his mobile phone. Officials claimed that on the device of Saraswati were chats with several women and he supposedly tried to seduce them with false promises. The investigators also discovered a number of photographs of him with air hostesses, as well as display pictures of various women screenshots.
In the investigation, the police interrogated Saraswati in the presence of two of his aides, women, who are said to have helped him in scaring victims. These assistants who work in different capacities at the institute are accused of coercing students to erase obscene messages that are written by Saraswati. They both are now being interrogated to find out the degree of their involvement.
Saraswati, the ex-chairman of the Sri Sharada Institute of Indian Management Research in Vasant Kunj has been involved in serious allegations in the past. There have been numerous FIRs against him on charges of molestation, cheating and forgery. He had spent almost a month before his arrest in Agra and had been in constant flight, adopting new looks and moving around the state to avoid detection. More than five groups of police were placed on his trail.
The charges being leveled against him include the mass molestation of female students, to financial malpractices involving a trust worth 122 crore. After his arrest he was transported to the campus of the institute to name certain spots where the supposed offences were committed.
According to investigators, Saraswati has been a noncooperative person during the investigation. He has reportedly tried to deceive police officers, given evasive answers, and not apologized over the acts. Even after being presented with documents, digital records and other evidence, he still claims innocence and keeps making false statements. According to the police authorities, the investigation is still in progress and additional measures will rely.
