New Delhi: Three wanted thieves were apprehended by the Delhi Police after a four-day-long high-speed chase that spanned the Delhi-NCR and recovered a huge amount of stolen gold and silver, and cash. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Nidhin Valsan affirmed that 37.061 kilograms of silver, 200 grammes of pure gold, and 1,86,000 in cash were recovered in the possession of the accused. ASI Parmod was injured during the operation when he was arresting the suspects.

The men who were arrested have been known as Pardeep (40), a resident of Burari; Kaku alias Jai Malik (32), a resident of Rohini, and Vishnu (43), a resident of Kishanganj. About Pardeep, the police argue that he is a recidivist and has committed several serious crimes, such as robbery, attempted murder, and Arms Act offences. He has a criminal history that includes three high-profile cases: FIR No. 42/2022 (Arms Act) at the Crime branch; FIR No. 174/2021 (robbery) at PS Gulabi Bagh; and FIR No. 429/2019 (attempt to murder and obstruction) at PS Laxmi Nagar.

The most recent one happened on September 24 and was reported at Tilak Marg police station in the district of New Delhi. The complainant, a supervisor at Umrao Singh Jewellers in Bhogal Market, and a colleague had gone to Chandni Chowk to have jewellery hallmarked. They obtained 370 grams of gold at Bhogal Market, 500 grams of gold at Pankaj Jewellers, Kucha Mahajani, and 40 kilograms of gold at R.S. Impex Jewellers. They had obtained a total of 870 grams of gold in Siddhi Vinayak Assaying after hallmarking.

Just after 4:15 PM, the pair rode out of Chandni Chowk, with the precious consignment on a scooter. They were intercepted by two gunmen on a blue motorcycle some 15 minutes later near Bhairon Mandir on Bhairon Road, Pragati Maidan. The victim was threatened by the pillion rider, who then took the bag holding the money with a pistol.
