Prayagraj. Durga Puja is in full swing in the city. The pandals are decorated and ready. Preparations were complete. But on Friday night, rain and storms ruined all the preparations. The pandal built near the Samiya Mai temple in Katra collapsed due to strong winds. Not only this, the pandal fell on an 11,000 volt wire. The sound of the pandal falling was so loud that people rushed out of their homes in panic. Fortunately, no one was present at the time of the accident. The height of this pandal is said to be around 80 feet.

The electricity department was immediately informed of the accident. After which, the power supply was shut down to prevent any further accidents. After cutting and securing the broken wires, the line was reconnected to another transformer. Later that night, power was restored. Meanwhile, the strong storm also disrupted power supply in several other areas of the city. In many places, tree branches broke and fell on wires, causing power outages for a long time. It’s worth noting that a pandal modeled after the famous Meenakshi Temple in South India had been constructed, but the rain and storm destroyed it.

Additionally, late-night rain in Varanasi caused chaos. In several locations, including the Gaudolia Church and Lahartara-Bauliya, the main gates, decorations, and bamboo poles of Durga Puja pandals fell onto the road, disrupting traffic for extended periods. Buses and vehicles bound for Jaunpur, Mirzapur, Gorakhpur, and Azamgarh were stranded in the traffic jam.
