Indore. The demolition process of the city’s BRTS will officially begin on Wednesday. This approximately 11.47-kilometer-long corridor, built from Niranjanpur to the Rajiv Gandhi statue, has been in operation for nearly 12 years.
The process of removing the BRTS began on February 27th of this year after receiving court permission. Despite this, technical and administrative hurdles have delayed the work. However, the corporation and administration have now decided to phase it out starting Wednesday.
The BRTS was built to improve Indore’s traffic system, but over time, it became a source of inconvenience for city residents. This corridor, built by occupying wider road space, exacerbated traffic congestion. Citizens and public representatives have repeatedly demanded its removal. Now, with the dismantling of the BRTS, the city will open the way for new road-widening projects, and residents are expected to find relief from traffic jams.
