Mumbai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Navi Mumbai International Airport and the final phase of Metro-3, along with key stretches of the city’s metro expansion, on October 8 and 9.

Meanwhile, Mumbai is very likely to see heavy to very heavy rainfall starting Saturday, September 27, till September 29, said the India Meteorological Department in a forecast released on Friday. The city is currently under orange alert and apart from Mumbai, its surrounding areas such as Palghar, Thane, and Raigad are also expected to witness a similar weather till Monday.

Earlier, reports had suggested that the inauguration was scheduled for September 30, but the programme has now been confirmed for the second week of October, coinciding with the Prime Minister’s participation in the International Fintech Festival in Mumbai.

Adani Airport Holdings Leases 405 Flats

The Navi Mumbai International Airport Limited (NMIAL), operated by Adani Airport Holdings Limted, has leased 405 ready-to-move-in flats on rent from the Wadhwa Group in its township project, Wadhwa Wise City, in Panvel, the Wadhwa Group said in a statement issued on September 24. These houses will be allocated for airport staff and their families.

“As the highly anticipated Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIAL) prepares for its inaugural launch, the demand for residential properties in the surrounding area has skyrocketed. NMIAL has signed a significant Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with The Wadhwa Group to secure 405 ready-to-move-in flats at its integrated township Wadhwa Wise City, Panvel, for airport personnel and families from October 2025,” Wadhwa Group said in a statement.
