Mumbai: The teaser for the upcoming film starring actors Emraan Hashmi and Yami Gautam, titled “Haq,” has been released. The film tells the story of a woman who is troubled by her husband. Her rights are being suppressed, leading her to demand justice. She has even reached the Supreme Court.
Dhar plays Shazia Bano—a character based on Shah Bano, who filed a maintenance case against her husband Ahmad Khan in 1978, and won. Shah Bano’s fight became a milestone in the fight for equal rights of Indian Muslim women. Hashmi plays Abbas, based on Ahmad Khan, who was an affluent advocate in Indore.
In the teaser for the film “Haq,” Emraan Hashmi’s argument with his wife, Yami Gautam, is shown. Yami then accuses him of various wrongdoings and seeks justice in court, leading to a confrontation between Emraan Hashmi and Yami Gautam.
The film “Haq” is based on one of India’s most controversial legal battles of the late 1970s and early 1980s. The teaser depicts the trial, which continues to spark discussions about justice and secular law in Indian society.
The film “Haq” is based on the Supreme Court’s landmark decision in the Mohammad Ahmed Khan vs. Shah Bano Begum case. Directed by Suparn S. Varma, the film is set to release in theaters on November 7, 2025. Produced by Junglee Pictures, in association with Insomnia Films and Baweja Studios.
