A clash between Naxal groups and security forces took place in the forests of the Abujhmad region, which lies in the border of Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh. According to the official reports, the encounter started when the security forces started a search operation in the dense forests. They also received inputs of Maoists in this area, which allowed them to start the operation.
The exchange of fire between the two sides continued for a long time, with the Naxals also giving a tough time to the forces. In the meantime, one of the rebels has been encountered by the police and weapons have also been recovered from him. Officials also said that it is a significant achievement by the security forces, noting the tough challenges in the terrain.
The security forces started with this operation after getting credible reports of some Maoists who secretly operate from here. Despite knowing this, the authorities remained calm and vigilant, as the jungle terrain would be difficult for them to get an encounter against the Naxalites. More reinforcements have now reached the area to eliminate the naxals or push them out of the region.
Officials have also said that more details on this operation by the security forces will be shared once it gets completed.
